Heart and stroke health

All three of our greater Sacramento area medical centers received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing excellent care for stroke patients. They were also recognized as a recipient of the association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll for improving stroke care. Our Sacramento and Roseville facilities were also identified in the AHA/ASA’s Honor Roll “Elite” category.

Our three Sacramento area hospitals have earned The Joint Commission’s Certificate of Distinction as Primary Stroke Centers for making exceptional efforts to deliver better outcomes for stroke patients.

Our Sacramento area medical centers have all been named “Top Hospitals” by The Leapfrog Group for delivering some of the safest, highest quality care in the nation (2009-Sacramento and South Sacramento; 2010-Roseville; 2011 and 2012, Roseville and South Sacramento).

Kaiser Permanente’s Roseville, Sacramento, and South Sacramento Medical Centers received the top score of “A” by The Leapfrog Group in its annual safety report released in April 2014. The report examined and graded more than 2,500 hospitals throughout the United States. A total of 19 Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Northern California received “A” grades.

“A perfect four stars for quality care, higher than any other health plan in California” – Office of the Patient Advocate: 2014-15 Healthcare Quality Report Card. Kaiser Permanente Northern California earned the top marks in the 2012 Healthcare Quality Report Card from the California Office of the Patient Advocate. It was the only health plan in California to earn a four-star rating in the report’s overall comparison of clinical performance, including four-star ratings for excellence in cancer screening and diabetes, heart, maternity, and asthma and lung care.

In 2015 Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare Plans in California received top ratings in the nation for the second year. Only one health plan in California merits the maximum 5-star rating by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for excellence in care and service.

Kaiser Permanente has been ranked the number one commercial health plan in California and named among the top 10 in the U.S. by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Out of 538 private plans ranked by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in its Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2014-15-Private, KP Northern California Region was ranked highest in California, and eighth in the nation. Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region and Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region were the only California health plans ranked in the nation’s Top 10.

The Integrated Healthcare Association ranked The Permanente Medical Group physicians among top 25 percent in California. The Permanente Medical Group was ranked among the top 25 percent of all California physician groups in 2014 for its performance on a variety of quality measures, including preventive care, chronic care management, patient satisfaction, and the use of technology, by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), a nonprofit organization that manages the nation’s largest pay-for-performance program for physicians.

The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted a three-year accreditation with commendation to the cancer programs at Sacramento and Roseville medical centers in 2014. Both have been named Comprehensive Community Cancer Programs. South Sacramento will be pursuing accreditation over the next two years.

Sacramento_2specsKaiser Permanente South Sacramento physicians got all “4s” in a special “California Doctor Ratings” section in the February 2014 issue of Consumer Reports. Our Sacramento and South Sacramento medical centers were recognized as two of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in 2015. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention named our South Sacramento Medical Center one of the first hospitals in the nation to be officially recognized as an Ebola treatment center.

Our Women and Children’s Center on our Roseville Medical Center campus has been named one of “America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics,” and one of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience,” according to Women’s Choice Award, part of a national organization that represents the opinions of female consumers.

For the third straight year, Kaiser Permanente was voted the “Best Health Provider” by the readers of the Roseville Press Tribune. Readers of the Lincoln News Messenger voted our Lincoln Medical Offices the “Best Medical Facility” and the Elk Grove online voters have chosen our Elk Grove Medical Offices as the Best Medical Facility for five consecutive years (2009-14).

Caring for our employees

KP has once again been recognized for not only keeping our members healthy, but also our physicians and staff. In 2014, Kaiser Permanente in Northern California has been named the Healthiest Employer in a Sacramento Business Journal survey. And the National Business Group on Health rates KP a healthiest employer. In June 2012, the organization recognized KP Northern California’s “Live Well, Be Well” employee wellness program with its Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles platinum award.

Environmental leadership

Our Sacramento Medical Center received the Emerald Award in the 2015 Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence Awards. Practice Greenhealth is a national organization that promotes green practices, construction, and resource conservation in health care.

Respected publications also say KP is a best place to work. Computerworld, San Francisco Business Times, DiversityInc, and Diversity MBA Magazine cited KP’s commitment to diversity, innovation, and advocacy when ranking KP high in their respective lists of best places to work.

KP was recognized as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” in the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Healthcare Equality Index 2014.
